The Manhattan Express: Located at New York-New York, more than seven-million thrill seekers have experienced the biggest rollercoaster on the Strip. Simulating a jet fighter’s barrel roll, you’ll turn 180 degrees, and hang 86 feet in the air. This is not for the faint of heart.
Speed: The ride at the Sahara accelerates from zero to 70mph in four seconds, as it shoots you out of the side of the building where you go through a small tunnel before the big loop. After a quick upside-down thrill, you are propelled up a 224-foot high tower. A steep drop follows, as passengers fall 25 feet below the surface through a mist-filled tunnel.
X Scream: At 866 feet, X Scream is the world's third highest thrill ride. Shaped like a giant teeter-totter, X Scream is an open vehicle that propels riders head-first 27 feet over the edge of the Stratosphere Tower at 30 miles per hour and then dangles them weightlessly above the Strip.
Insanity: A massive mechanical arm extends 64 feet over the edge of the Stratosphere Tower at a height of over 900 feet, and spins you at a force of 3-Gs for a truly mind-bending experience. Your body will be propelled to an angle so you’re facing straight down. True insanity!
Big Shot: This big boy shoots passengers straight up 160 feet at 45 mph until they are 1,081 feet above the Strip. Then you freefall and then they shoot you up again. If this ride was from the ground, it would be frightening—but from the top of the Stratosphere Tower—it’s terrifying!
Canyon Blaster: The Adventuredome at Circus Circus has the only indoor double-loop, double-corkscrew rollercoaster on the planet. It hits 55mph and drops 90 feet, leaving riders in the rear of the train floating in their seats
Rim Runner: Also at the Adventuredome, this is one of the wettest and wildest rides with a 60-foot waterfall.
The Inverter: This isn't just a ride, it's a ticket to terror. This ride overloads the senses with 360 degrees of flipping and constant g-force at mind-blowing speeds—found also at the Adventuredome.
The Tank: The Golden Nugget has a new $30-million pool that incorporates a 200,000 gallon shark tank. There is a one-of-a-kind waterslide that will take you right down through the shark tank.
Mario Andretti Pace Car Ride: One of Mario Andretti's professional instructors will take you six laps around the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in a 600-horsepower race car, reaching speeds of up to 145 mph. Or do the driving yourself, with the Mario Andretti Qualifier.
The Desperado: About a 40-minute ride from Las Vegas, located at Buffalo Bills in Primm, this coaster reaches a top speed of 80 mph and is over a mile long with a 5,843-foot track. Desperado can be called a right of passage for rollercoaster fans. SLV
