“If you can’t find it… we can make it!”

Did you ever wonder where the girls who work for the Casino pools get their custom-made swimsuits? Or, where the Chippendales get their custom rip-away pants? Or, how the dancers can look naked while still wearing a thong? Strings Las Vegas is the place to shop for all your Bikinis, Dancewear, Clubwear, Lingerie and anything and everything sexy and uninhibited. Whether you’re a rock star, playmate, exotic dancer or just a sexy girl looking for something special, you can have custom-made bikinis or outfits created just for you. Strings has been manufacturing and designing custom-made articles for 17 years. They are the largest bikini shop in Las Vegas. Strings Owner – Mike Neumann tells us the history behind his store, fills us in on the latest trends, and tells us why his exclusive store is so successful.

"Seventeen years ago, Decatur Boulevard was the end of Las Vegas, and the rest was all desert. There were only a couple of strip clubs in Vegas, with Crazy Horse Too being the biggest one. There wasn’t a lot of need for dancer stores back then. I think we might have been the first. No one can really claim it, but we’re the oldest company that’s been doing it."

SLV: What is your latest news?
NEUMANN: I’m doing swimsuits for the girls at the pools of TAO Beach, Marquis Beach Pool, Excalibur Pool, Liquid Pool and Bare Pool.
SLV: Why do they come to you for their suits?
NEUMANN: Our swimsuits look fantastic, and if anything breaks or malfunctions, we replace it for free. We guarantee them for the whole summer. We make wraps, too.
SLV: How do clients give their order to you, and are they very specific?
NEUMANN: Sometimes they already have an idea of what they want, and sometimes they let us be creative. Then we make samples and they get to try them on. Sometimes they bring in colors. Then we size them, because every girl is different. We do custom-fittings here in small, medium, and large. TAO Beach brought eighty girls in here to get fitted.
SLV: Is there a particular style that will look good on all the girls?
NEUMANN: If upper management is conservative, they’ll want it more conservative. If they’re not that conservative, then the “scrunch butt” bikini looks good on all the girls.
SLV: Who came up with the idea of the “scrunch butt”?
NEUMANN: We’ve been doing it for seventeen years. There’s no one that can legally claim the “scrunch butt”, but I know we were the first dancer store here, so I believe Strings had the first “scrunch butts”, and then everyone copied us. They call it “ruched butts” or “scrunch butts”.
Every other dancewear company steals our designs and tries to copy what we make here.
SLV: Do you think there’s one swimsuit style that men find most appealing?
NEUMANN: The smaller, the better!
SLV: What fabric is used in the dancewear?
NEUMANN: The dancewear is stretchable Lycra that won’t fall off the dancers’ bodies and will move with the performer.
SLV: You also make costumes.
NEUMANN: Yes, Halloween costumes, and we do showgirl costumes, if a customer requests it.
SLV: Is there one particular costume that outsells everything else?
NEUMANN: No, just anything sexy. The French maid sells a lot, and so do the Referee styles. We focus on the sexy, fantasy side for the costumes. They are very tight fitting, just like all the lingerie.
SLV: Things can’t get much tinier. What do you see in the future?
NEUMANN: The new trend is see-through fabric – styles where it looks more like lingerie and bra tops to be worn as clothes. A lot of ‘bling’d out bra tops with beading, sequins and glitter are all the trend. Traditional dancewear is also very popular at the moment. The average customer wants more coverage, so we carry both styles here.
SLV: Besides dancers, who comes here to buy these products?
NEUMANN: Cocktail waitresses, couples, swingers, and just average girls. We have more bikini styles than anyone in Vegas, definitely the sexiest ones! The models are always looking for something unique. We do a lot of limited edition bikinis, so we might make one of something and have it out there for sale, or four or five of something, and that’s it. Girls want something that no one else is going to have. They don’t want something that twenty other girls at the pool are wearing.
SLV: How do you make sure that there are no other ones out there, except those couple of bikinis?
NEUMANN: I buy random fabrics or a girl can bring in her own fabric. We can design it custom-made to fit their body. When you buy limited runs of fabrics and just make four or five bikinis, that’s all there is. I made a snakeskin one…it looked perfect on the girl. It was the only one we ever made…she was the happiest girl on the planet after she found out, because she was the only one who was ever going to have one like it. It fit her body like a glove and I’ve never seen anyone so happy! We do a lot of limited editions.
SLV: You make everything right here on site?
NEUMANN: I have three full-time seamstresses, and I can call in two more, so I can have five seamstresses working on ten sewing machines.
SLV: Do you sell online?
NEUMANN: We sell a lot online. We’re selling stuff to Australia today, and we sell a lot to the United Kingdom and Europe. They find out about us from our website, word-of-mouth and videos we do. I’m taking over the Unleashed Swimwear brand and it is called Strings Unleashed, and it’s more edgy. That store is at Durango Drive and Flamingo.
SLV: Do men come here to purchase for themselves also?
NEUMANN: Yes. The Chippendales come for their G-strings. We do the male dancers’ rip away pants. We also do some of the items for transvestite customers, as the larger size shoes. Show people come in and have G-strings made with nude color fabric and with fishing line. Holly Madison’s wardrobe lady comes in here, Fantasy’s wardrobe person comes in here, plus musicians and magicians come for wardrobe specialties. We do custom work for many, many performers. Our motto is: “If you can’t find it…we can make it!” SLV
