"What do I need marijuana for ?
I was born with the munchies!"
Poking fun more at himself than at the audience or the issues of the world, comedy icon Louie Anderson is finally at home in his all-new self-titled theater inside the Palace Station Casino. Anderson’s act is a complete 180 degrees from the comedic “roasters” like Don Rickles, and seems wonderfully at ease in his new home, laughing about his family, childhood upbringing, and telling tales of hilarity about the difficulties of growing old.
Spanning over 30 years, the comedian’s successful career has garnered him the respect and adoration as one of the country’s most recognized comics. A two-time Emmy award winner, Anderson’s big break came in 1984 with his appearance on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson”, and he has owned the limelight ever since. He was named by Comedy Central as “One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time”, starred in his own CBS sitcom “The Louie Show”, hosted the hit series “Family Feud”, guest-starred on top sitcoms, and performed in his own comedy specials for HBO and Showtime. Over the years Anderson has continued to expand his career, starring in several films including “Coming to America” opposite Eddie Murphy and the classic film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. Along the way he found to be the executive producer and creator of the two-time Emmy Award-Winning animated series on FOX, “Life with Louie”.
Anderson has also enjoyed staying behind-the-scenes, writing three books as a best-selling author: “Dear Dad—Letters from an Adult Child” in ’89, (written in the form of a collection of sentimental and outlandish letters from Louie to his late father), and the self-help book “Good-bye Jumbo…Hello Cruel World”, (dealing with the difficulties of self-esteem issues from the award-winning comedian’s perspective), and the epitome of family tribute books “The F Word, How to Survive Your Family” (the honest and brilliant survival manual for anyone who’s ever choked on the “F” word).
The talented Louie Anderson continues to give us chuckles, as he now matures into his middle-aged years along with most of his devoted fans. There’s simply no better material than the “real stuff” when it comes to comedy, and Anderson had lots of it to share over the years, with stories about growing up in a family of 11 children in Minnesota, nurturing the Midwestern values, and dealing with an alcoholic father. Those real-life stories continue to touch the hearts of Americans, and have cemented Anderson a dedicated fan base.
Now his new comedic routine, “Louie LOL”, can be enjoyed 5 nights a week in his intimate showroom, the Louie Anderson Theater, a stage that he shares with fellow comedians when he’s
on the road touring.
Anderson also brings Stand-Up Boot Camp to the Palace Station Casino. He collaborates with comedian Kyle Cease, as they share their knowledge and business connections through a unique workshop to up-and-coming comics). In their “Conquering the Stage” workshop, (a two-day event for all levels of experience to learn how to push yourself to the next level of success), participants learn how to edge out the competition by: discovering their true comedic voice, using their life as material, conquering fears of the audience, and learning how to make real money doing stand-up comedy. Boot-Campers are able to meet and work with some of the biggest names in business during the camp, helping them to obtain greater potential for success in their individual careers. Anderson and Cease are planning additional Boot Camp sessions in the near future including “Creative License” (a three-day marathon to help up-and-comers raise the bar) and “Stand-Up Mastery” (a five-day event to change your career).
