Foot Fetish and Leg Worship
The pure admiration or sexual attraction to feet and legs.
Stockings
Sheer stockings made from silk and rayon were popular in the 1920’s. In 1939, a display of the newest synthetic fiber was shown at the New York World’s Fair. Using the NY from the city’s initials, the fiber became known as “nylon”. Women, anxious to try these new stockings, crowded the New York City stores on May 15, 1940 to buy over four million pairs in the first few hours. Stores across America saw a similar stampede and 64 million pairs of stockings were sold in the first year “nylons” appeared on the market. The excitement was short lived, because when the U.S. joined World War II in 1942, nylon production was used for military items such as parachutes, tents and belts, and already manufactured nylon stockings were melted down for aircraft tires. Nylons could only be found on the black market. American GI’s could still get their hands on stockings and they became a gift of seduction for their sweethearts. Betty Grable, the famous pinup girl of the 1940’s, wore her nylons onstage at a war bond rally. In front of everyone there, she peeled off her stockings and they were auctioned off for $40,000. Women desperate to have the look of nylons started to shave their legs and use makeup to cover them. Then they would use an eyebrow pencil to draw a vertical black line up the back of their leg to appear as though they were wearing hose. After the war, the demand skyrocketed and women didn’t feel fully dressed unless wearing their nylon stockings. It wasn’t until the 1960’s that there was a change. When Twiggy, a skinny model from London, modeled the mini-skirt and it became a fashion phenomenon, stockings needed to go all the way up the legs, and thus pantyhose were born. The fishnet stocking is extremely sexy. They scream “look at me” and have been in and out of fashion since the 1920’s. Fishnets were considered the trademark of the call girl. They were usually seen on the stage during burlesque shows, but when Jane Russell began to wear them out in public, it became fashionable for ladies to wear them. There is something taboo about wearing a black or red fishnet stocking, so they were thought to be worn by naughty girls and again fell out of the mainstream. When the 1990’s hit and the gothic scene grew, there was a resurgence of the popularity of the fishnet stocking in the fashion world. “Good girls” could wear something naughty in the bedroom and have tremendous sex appeal to their man. Pair black fishnet stockings with a red corset, and as Madonna will tell you, it’s “man-killer attire”. The trashy look on a woman drives men crazy. Men love to know their women are good girls, but want them to look naughty for them only.
High Heels
The foot and the shoe have been imbued with powerful phallic and fertility symbols as evidenced in the contemporary practice of tying shoes to a newlywed couple’s car. Catherine of Medici of Paris started wearing high heel shoes because of her short stature and it became a part of fashion. Men and women both wore high heel shoes for centuries. The shoes were an indication of their social status and importance, while the lower class walked barefoot. Casanova declared his admiration for shoes that showed the beautiful legs of women, while women were known to wear high heel shoes to seduce men. In 1791, Napoleon banished high heel shoes, attempting to equalize the classes, but Marie Antoinette defiantly wore two-inch heels to the scaffold in 1793. During the 15th Century, the heel first became a fashion statement when Venetian courtesans started wearing chopines. The chopine is a platform shoe ranging from 7 inches to a staggering 20 inches in height, requiring attendants or servants to walk with a woman wearing them. It was believed that the higher you were, the higher you were in society. The chopine elevated women to a height that afforded a courtesan the leisure not to walk the streets. The Stiletto heel was invented in 1952. The new thin heel made the woman’s leg appear longer, more defined, and became infused with erotic significance. Stilettos taper the toes, arch the instep, lift the calves, thrust the breasts forward and raise the buttocks to hint at sexual action. It resembles the position of the foot during orgasm. Dr. Gad Saad, associate professor at Concordia University, Canada, is quoted as saying: “High heels may well be the most potent aphrodisiac ever concocted. The height sensuously alters the whole anatomy - foot, leg, thigh, hips, pelvis, buttocks, and breasts. Men are perfectly frank in admitting that high heels stimulate their sexual appetite, and women, consequently, assign to stilted shoes all the magic of a love potion. In particular, heels alter the angle of the buttocks by 20 or 30 degrees, to create a more youthful and thus fertile-looking body.” Wearing high heels demands a mincing, swaying walk, quite different from the confidant stride when a woman wears athletic or flat shoes. It has been said that Marilyn Monroe would have one heel made a quarter of an inch shorter than the other to give her the characteristic wiggle she was famous for. Men get pleasure from the undulating hips and buttocks of the women who wear high heels. The walk also makes women appear helpless, and unable to run or escape.
Foot Fetish
A huge desire to smell, lick, touch, taste, see, suck, female feet.
If you’re a man with a foot fetish, you usually desire female feet. Females with a foot fetish are rare, but are usually willing to accommodate a man who has one. Feet that are properly taken care of are beautiful, smell good, taste good, and are an aphrodisiac to the viewer and admirer. A man who has a foot fetish, dreams of smelling, kissing, licking, sucking and worshipping the female foot. We don’t know where this desire comes from, but 98% of men who have a foot fetish just say: “All my life, as long as I can remember, I’ve thought about feet.” Freud regarded fetishism as a male response to anxiety about the sexual act. He theorized that the foot was a natural object of fetish where the shoe is the vulva and the foot the phallus that could enter and inhabit it. It was a strategy for coping with male vulnerability and the fear of castration. Fetish literature is full of accounts of men being flayed by women, impaled by their spiked shoes, punished and trampled. Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s heroine in his book Venus In Furs, was the original dominatrix, and she humiliates, taunts and thrashes the helpless lover lying at her feet begging for punishment as he licks her shoes.
There are many famous foot lovers, like the writers Thomas Hardy, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Fyodor Dostoevsky. There were the notorious pictures of Sarah Ferguson, the Dutchess of York, having her toes kissed by her lover, John Bryan, before her divorce from Prince Andrew. Dick Morris, political book writer, was forced to resign as head of President Clinton’s reelection campaign after Sherry Rowlands, a call girl, sold her story to the tabloid The Star revealing that Morris had a fetish for toe sucking. Elvis was said to have massaged his mother’s feet as she lay in her coffin. No one is sure what triggers the fetish. A popular theory is that sexual imprinting occurs when an infant is crawling around its mother’s feet and this leads to feet being an object of sexual arousal.
Killers with Foot Fetishes
In the late 1960’s, serial killer Jerry Brudos, known as the ‘Shoe Fetish Slayer’, would amputate his female victims’ feet and dress them up in his large collection of ladies’ shoes. In 2006, the Thurnscoe Shoe Rapist was arrested twenty years after his first attack. He raped women and had over 200 pairs of stiletto shoes that he kept at his workplace as trophies.
