Living in the desert during winter has its charms, and although not having snow may be a  bummer for some people, Las Vegas does offer some pretty spectacular events, shopping and sights during the holidays.  From ice skating on the Strip at Caesars Palace, having your photo taken with a shipwrecked Santa, or dining with celebrities on New Year’s, Vegas offers a jolly good time to the whole family.  For our avid Strip Las Vegas readers, we’ve gathered a couple of fabulous places, where you can drop some serious money, witness some spectacular sites, and join the party festivities throughout December and New Year’s in Las Vegas.  Grab some hot chocolate, sit by the fire with loved ones, and plan your Vegas Christmas.

Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
Offering guests a truly unique and memorable experience this holiday season is Bellagio’s own Conservatory & Botanical Gardens.  The display will feature a 49-foot holiday tree, topped by an 8-foot-tall mirrored star.  Water will leap in and out of a sea of red and white poinsettias, while 22 Emperor Penguins gather on a bed of icebergs nearby.  The holiday display is available for guests to enjoy December 1, 2007 through January 5, 2008.

Ice Skating at Caesars Palace
Move over New York—Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is the place to go Ice Skating and seeing the stars this holiday season!  A state-of-the-art ice rink, approximately the size of the skating surface at Rockefeller Plaza in New York, has been created at the resort’s open-air Roman Plaza.  In a process using solar technology, a refrigerant will run through special high-tech floor matting, which freezes water on top of a 60’ x 90’  surface.  Public skating and lessons offered by U.S. Figure Skating-certified instructors will be available starting Monday, Nov. 22 at 9 a.m.

Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
Fun for the whole family!  With each paid admission to Shark Reef, children receive a complimentary photograph with Santa in the Shipwreck and a yummy candy cane to ensure one unforgettable holiday experience.  Photos are available December 21st-24th from 10am – 4pm.

The Holiday Shop at The Mirage
The Holiday Shop offers something festive for every loved one.  Open at The Mirage through January 1st, 9am – 12am daily.
